The Bullfrog Candle got its start nearly three decades ago, when the Stewart children asked for help with a candle- making school project. The children moved on to other interests while Bill continued to experiment with candles of his own design. After many years, the secret candle glow was perfected by using the highest quality wax and "just a little magic".
In 1981, candle-making became a vocation instead of a hobby, and the company was named for the noisy bullfrogs at the adjacent Shiawassee Flats Game Refuge. Since then, the company has created hundreds of thousands of glowing candles that have become the trademark of Bullfrog Light Co. Each candle is hand-crafted from start to finish in Charlevoix, Michigan, where the growing business was relocated in 1985.
